December 1 - Last Chance to get a FREE Flu Shot at NLCHC

If you’re in need of a flu shot as colder weather brings on more inclement weather and flu becomes more common, you can get a free flu shot at NLCHC.
Free flu shots are already underway at the clinic every Tuesday night in November through December 1st. Health professionals from St. John’s University’s Student Health Services will be assisting our clinic at our New Life Fellowship location in Elmhurst. But if you can’t make it to our clinic in Elmhurst at New Life Fellowship, you can also get them at the Catholic Charities location in Astoria, Queens.
‘Flu season’ usually starts every year in October, picks up in November, and peaks between December and February. More than 200,000 people are hospitalized for flu-related illness each year. The elderly, people who have bad living conditions that weaken their immune system, and children are often the most susceptible to the flu, but the Centers for Disease Control recommends that everyone over 6 months old should get a yearly flu shot to minimize the chances of getting the flu.
